The Google Ads Conversions modules allow you to upload and adjust your Google Ads conversions.

Getting Started with Google Ads Conversions

Prerequisites

  • A Google Ads account

In order to use Google Ads Conversions with Ibexa Connect, you must have a Google Ads account. If you do not have one, you can create a Google account at ads.google.com.

Note

The module dialog fields that are displayed in bold (in the Ibexa Connect scenario, not in this documentation article) are mandatory!

Note

Some adblocking browser plugins could block the Google Ads Conversions modules. It is recommended to disable the plugins if you encounter a problem loading a module.

Connecting Google Ads Conversions to Make

To connect your Google Ads account to Ibexa Connect you must obtain your Customer ID and insert it in the Create a connection module dialog box.

  1. Log in to your Google Ads account.

  3. Copy the Customer ID number. For example: 123-456-7890.

  4. Go to Ibexa Connect and open the Google Ads Conversions module you want to use.

  5. Click Add. In the Connection name field, enter a name for your connection.

Account/Customer ID

Select the account or customer ID associated with the conversion.

Although this resource name consists of a customer id and a conversion action id, validation will ignore the customer id and use the conversion action id as the sole identifier of the conversion action.

Customer Phone Number

Enter the phone number from which this call was placed. The number must be in E.164 format with preceding '+' sign. e.g. "+16502531234".

Upload a Click Conversion

Select which click conversion to upload. You can manually search or select from the list.

Account/Customer ID

Select the account or customer ID associated with the conversion.

Conversion Action ID

Select the resource name of the conversion action associated with this conversion.

Although this resource name consists of a customer id and a conversion action id, validation will ignore the customer id and use the conversion action id as the sole identifier of the conversion action.

Note

You only see import conversion actions which are suitable for click conversion uploads. If your list is empty, you first need to create a new import conversion action in the Google Ads UI by going to Conversions > New Conversion Action > Import > Other data sources or CRMs > Track conversions from clicks. After you set up the conversion action, it shows up on the list here. You must wait around 6 hours before Google Ads starts accepting conversion uploads for your new action.

Conversion Date Time

Enter the date time at which the conversion occurred. Must be after the call time. You must specify the timezone. The format is yyyy-mm-dd hh:mm:ss+|-hh:mm, e.g. 2022-01-01 12:32:45-08:00.

Google Click ID

Enter the Google Click ID (GCLID) associated with this conversion.

Order ID

Enter the order ID associated with the conversion.

Note

You can only use an order id for one conversion per conversion action.

If you plan to upload first-party data adjustments for enhanced conversions later, you must provide an order ID for each uploaded GCLID.

Conversion Value

Enter the value of the conversion for the advertiser.

If you don't assign value to your call conversions, enter 0.

Currency Code

Enter the currency associated with the conversion value. You must follow the ISO 4217 3-character currency code. For example: USD, EUR.

External Attribution Data

Additional data about externally attributed conversions.

Note

This field is required for conversions with an externally attributed conversion action, but should not be set otherwise.

External Attribution Credit Represents the fraction of the conversion that is attributed to the Google Ads click.
External Attribution Model Specifies the attribution model name.

For more information, see Click (GCLID) based conversion requirements.

Upload a Conversion Adjustment

Uploads a conversion adjustment.

Note

You can upload conversion adjustments after 24 hours from the original conversion.

Google's API requires you to provide the date time of the original conversion if you upload the adjustments by GCLID. There is no way to get the exact date time if you did not save it to your own database when the original conversion was pushed to Google Ads. Without the correct date time, the conversion adjustment upload will fail.

When your original conversion was uploaded with a GCLID and a Transaction ID, you can only adjust it by supplying the transaction ID. If your original conversion was uploaded with a GCLID only, you can only adjust it by supplying the GCLID.

Example: "Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; CPU iPhone OS 12_2 like Mac OS X)".

Note

User agent can only be specified in enhancements with user identifiers. This should match the user agent of the request that sent the original conversion so the conversion and its enhancement are either both attributed as same-device or both attributed as cross-device.
